This recipe and technique are straightforward! Nine out of ten times, when I'm cooking, I use whatever I have on hand. For this recipe, I used skim milk and salted butter. I have to try whole milk or buttermilk soon. I love the taste and texture, so skim is fine!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup skim milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons salted butter (partially frozen)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt (Optional since we are using salted butter)
Directions:
Preheat your air fryer (oven-style) or Oven to 425 degrees.
Combine your flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl.
Grab your cold butter. If you don't have a cheese grater, you can cube or slice your butter into the flour. Grating will add those buttery, flaky layers to your biscuit.
Add milk, stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until well combined. Don't overwork the dough.
Transfer the dough to a clean and well-floured surface. Use your hands to work the dough gently. If it's too sticky, add more flour.
I've seen others use a rolling pin, but I've only used my hand.
Fold the dough over itself, and then use the palm of your hand to flatten it out.
Rotate the dough 90 degrees and repeat the folding-over process.
Now, most people will have a biscuit cutter. Use anything you have on hand to cut out the biscuits. Once your biscuits are cut out, you can use the scraps to reform the dough and cut out an additional biscuit or two.
Place biscuits on a baking sheet 1/2 " apart.
Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes. Recently, I've been using the convection bake setting on my Ninja Air Fryer.
Once they're done, brush on melted butter.
Serve warm and enjoy!
