If you have patience, this recipe is for you! A stand mixer is required, but you can make it by hand. If you commit to stop drinking sugary drinks, then you can enjoy homemade treats without guilt.
Ingredients:
Dough
All-Purpose Flour (360 grams) 3 Cups
Granulated Sugar (50 grams) 1/3 Cup
Melted Butter (50 grams)
Warm Milk (180 grams) 6 Ounces
One Egg
Instant Yeast (7 grams)
Filling
4 Tbsp Soft Stick Butter
1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
Ground Cinnamon
Frosting
2 Cups Confectioner's Sugar (Powdered)
2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
4 Tbsp Milk or Heavy Cream
Ensure your milk isn't too hot, or the yeast won't work correctly!
Directions:
Add your milk, yeast, sugar, and egg to your mixing bowl.
Mix on low speed for a minute.
Gradually mix in your flour.
Mix in butter.
Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
Transfer your dough ball to a greased large bowl.
Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 3 hours.
Roll your dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured, clean surface.
Brush on your butter and then sprinkle on your filling mixture.
From the shorter side of the rectangle, roll your cinnamon roll.
Use a knife to cut 9-12 cinnamon rolls. For bigger rolls, cut into nine pieces.
Transfer cinnamon rolls to a greased baking dish. Cover and let it rise for 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Bake cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
While the cinnamon rolls are baking, make your frosting.
Add your confection sugar, butter, heavy cream, and vanilla to your mixing bowl. Cream together on low speed.
Let the cinnamon roll rest for 5 minutes before frosting.
Frost and enjoy!
